Job Description

PainterAmentum has a Painter opening at our Springfield, VA client facility. The Painter will smooth and finish surfaces and paint floors, walls, and miscellaneous surfaces using a variety of tools and materials.Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.ResponsibilitiesApply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings and other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.Cover surfaces with canvas drop cloth or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster; or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements.Remove fixtures such as frames, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting.Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and/or sanding machines.Erect scaffolding and swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level.Waterproof buildings, using waterproofing membranes and caulking.Perform other qualified duties as assigned.Minimum KnowledgeKnowledge of preparation and painting of equipment, buildings and other structures, support equipment, and components, for both interior and exterior work.Ability to work independently with good decision-making skills.Ability to recognize occupational hazards of the painting trade and take precautionary measures as needed.Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.High school diploma or equivalent.Two (2) years of experience in a paint preparation, painting, sanding and scuffing or related field required.Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.Work EnvironmentAbility to lift/carry at least 50 lbs.Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.Compensation Details: 38.99Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
